Our General English Course Plus Watersports at ELC Eastbourne

ELC Eastbourne is perfectly located for your General English plus watersports course – on the southeast coast of England with extensive beaches and plenty of sun, the town of Eastbourne is a great place to spend time, and our school is warm, friendly and welcoming.

* Minimum age: please see more information regarding levels of care and supervision for 16 and 17 year olds in international classes. We occasionally accept 15 year olds in international classes provided they are part of a group with a group leader.

In the mornings you study on the core programme of the General English course in a multinational class at your level for 20 lessons (15 hours) per week.

For 3 afternoons per week you will learn and practise watersports with a qualified instructor. The range of activities includes:

  • sailing
  • windsurfing
  • paddle boarding
  • bodyboarding
  • kayaking

The watersports lessons will also help you practise your English further because all tuition is in English. Some key features of the option are:

  • sessions take place at a local water sports centre in Eastbourne
  • each session lasts 90 minutes
  • all equipment is included
  • transport to and from the watersports venue is included
  • minimum stay normally 2 weeks
  • watersports option guaranteed to run with a minimum of 1 participant.

Yes, definitely. The water sports centre is used to teaching people at all levels.

How do I get to the water sports centre? How far is it from school?

The centre is just outside the centre of Eastbourne, approximately 5-10 minutes by taxi. We organise taxis for you, this is included in the course fee.

Our language learning levels relate closely to how the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) define them, but with a difference which we have found to help our students at Elementary level.

We offer an English level test which anyone can take. It involves 50 questions and, depending on your level, will probably take you from 10 to 20 minutes. At the end of it, we will tell you your probable level.

But when you book, we will ask you to take a more detailed and accurate test, to make sure that you start in the class which is best for you.
