British Council accredited

Our schools are separately accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English as a foreign language. To obtain accreditation, the schools must be inspected regularly and meet very strict criteria in 15 overall areas including teaching, premises and facilities and care of students.

The British Council last inspected and accredited:

  • ELC Eastbourne in May 2024. ELC Eastbourne achieved 12 overall areas of strength, well above the average for BC schools, making ELC Eastbourne a Centre of Excellence (based on EL Gazette’s rankings). Read the full 2024 British Council report.
  • ELC Chester in June 2024. ELC Chester achieved 15 out of a possible 15 overall areas of strength. This makes ELC Chester jointly the #1 school in the UK and a Centre of Excellence (based on EL Gazette’s rankings). Read the full 2024 British Council report.
