How many sports lessons does the course include?
You will have three sports lessons per week.
Our General English course plus horse riding lessons at ELC Eastbourne is designed to mix English study with equestrian fun.
Mornings are spent up-skilling your General English levels, then for three afternoons per week you will have horse riding lessons under the guidance of an experienced trainer at a local stables in the beautiful Eastbourne countryside.
Available all year round, our General English plus horse riding course is for anyone over 16. No previous experience is required!
* Minimum age: please see more information regarding levels of care and supervision for 16 and 17 year olds in international classes. We occasionally accept 15 year olds in international classes provided they are part of a group with a group leader.
In the mornings you study on the core programme of the General English course, in a multinational class at your level, for 20 lessons (15 hours) per week.
For three afternoons per week you will have horse riding lessons led by an experienced trainer. Lessons are tailored to your level and can include a light ride with a group, depending on your ability. It is also possible to do British Horse Society (BHS) qualifications – please contact us for more details and prices.
The horse-riding lessons will also help you practise your English further. Some key features of the horse-riding option are:

We think this course is perfect for international students who enjoy classroom-based input but like to add an outdoor or sporting element to their stay with us. ELC Eastbourne’s General English course plus horse riding gives you the opportunity to study a comprehensive English course, and supplement it with real life experience where you will interact with native English speakers – ideal to improve your fluency even further.
General English courses typically require CEFR levels A1 to C1+ to participate.

We organise taxis for you, this is included in the course fee. The centre is outside the centre of Eastbourne, apprximately 15-20 minutes away.
Yes, you should get travel insurance. ELC can provide travel insurance and you can add insurance when you book your course. Alternatively you can buy travel insurance in your own country through your local agent.
Yes. We have had riders of all levels. Students can take riding lessons and go 'hacking' (riding in the countryside).

Our language learning levels relate closely to how the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) define them, but with a difference which we have found to help our students at Elementary level.

We offer an English level test which anyone can take. It involves 50 questions and, depending on your level, will probably take you from 10 to 20 minutes. At the end of it, we will tell you your probable level.
But when you book, we will ask you to take a more detailed and accurate test, to make sure that you start in the class which is best for you.
