Our General English course plus Yoga + Natural Health lessons at ELC Eastbourne

Our practical, enjoyable General English plus yoga + natural health programmes are available all year round, with small, intimate classes and a raft of choices for you.

* Minimum age: we occasionally accept 15 year olds in international classes provided they are part of a group with a group leader. Our safeguarding and child protection policy document has more information, but please contact us if you require further details.

In the mornings you study on the core programme of the General English course in a multinational class at your level for 20 lessons (15 hours) per week. Then in the afternoons, evenings or at the weekend, you have 3 natural fitness classes and 1 complementary therapy per week.

You can choose from a range of options including the ones below.

Natural fitness classes

Yoga

Yoga brings relaxation to body and mind through gentle postures (asanas), deep breathing (pranayama), and meditation (dhyanna). Yoga can expand physical and mental awareness, build strength and flexibility, and increase energy levels. The Centre offers different strengths and styles of yoga, and their staff will be happy to recommend a suitable class.

Gentle yoga and meditation

This offers simple yoga stretches to relax tension, deep relaxation, breath work (pranayama) and meditation. Visit a wonderful oasis of calm in your busy life.

Tai Chi

This is a self-healing system for creating internal and mental harmony. These classes offer a series of soft and gentle exercises, which strengthen the body and prevent illness. Relieves stress, tension, aches and pains.

Chi exercise and relaxation

This is specially designed to improve strength, balance and flexibility for people with back conditions, osteoporosis, recovering from operation or illness and less mobile seniors. No mat work is required, this class can be done seated.

Balletcise

Ideal for anyone who has fond memories of ballet classes as a child or for those who never had the opportunity and wishes they had!

Complementary therapies

Aqua detox

A manual therapy that uses spinal manipulation to restore proper spinal motion and alignment in order to remove or reduce nerve interference/irritation.

Emotional freedom techniques

Pain, stress, phobias, relationship problems and addiction can be released through tapping acupuncture points on the face and collar bone.

Facials

Ayurvedic, Natural Lift Facial Massage, Hopi Ear Candle therapy and special herbal candles may relieve many ear and sinus problems.

Massage

Aromatherapy, Indian Head, Shiatsu, Butterfly Touch, Rolfing, Thai Foot.

  • Before arriving, you do an online test so your class is at the right level for you.
  • We conduct regular progress checks and set homework every day.
  • You’ll be in a multi-national group for your English classes.
  • Regular individual tutorials with your teacher for private help and study advice.

  • You can use the self-access study centre after lessons to practise and improve.
  • End of course certificate with hours of study and final level.

Who is this General English and natural health course for?

If you are an international student looking to both improve your English language skills and treat yourself to several sessions of enjoyable, stress-relieving yoga or natural health classes, this is the ideal programme for you.

General English courses typically require CEFR levels A1 to C1+ to participate.

Our language learning levels relate closely to how the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) define them, but with a difference which we have found to help our students at Elementary level.

We offer an English level test which anyone can take. It involves 50 questions and, depending on your level, will probably take you from 10 to 20 minutes. At the end of it, we will tell you your probable level.

But when you book, we will ask you to take a more detailed and accurate test, to make sure that you start in the class which is best for you.
