Welcome to England

ELC Brighton, ELC Eastbourne and ELC Chester offer a wide choice of high quality English language courses in a warm, friendly and professional environment. Each school has its own unique character but all of the staff at each of the three schools are passionate about providing comprehensive, practical courses and very personal service.

The group of three schools is ranked the No 1 group of English language schools in the UK by EL Gazette in its review of language school groups and chains.

About our one-to-one English courses in England

Taking one-to-one English lessons in England is an excellent way to maximise your studies if you have a limited amount of free time.

Private lessons may be the ultimate in personal attention, with lessons that are specifically focussed on your English language needs. But when you’re the only student in the class, the attention is always on you, which makes one-to-one lessons challenging and intensive. One thing is for sure: your English skills should improve quickly and effectively.

If you are 16 or over, have a CEFR level between A1 (Beginner) and C1+ (Advanced), these One to One, carefully designed sessions are the ideal choice for students who wish to focus on their own personal learning goals.

We offer an English level test which anyone can take. It involves 50 questions and, depending on your level, will probably take you from 10 to 20 minutes. At the end of it, we will tell you your probable level.

But when you book, we will ask you to take a more detailed and accurate test, to make sure that you start in the class which is best for you.

Test your English level now

Do you think one-to-one lessons are right for you?

We think one-to-one lessons are a good option in some quite specific situations:

  • If you’re in a hurry to improve your English
  • If you simply prefer the calm of a one-to-one classroom, where every moment is geared around your learning
  • If you are comfortable with a higher intensity of learning than you’d usually get in a group context

It’s good to remember that being on your own with your teacher means you don’t have quite the same opportunities to meet with other students of your level from around the world, but we do encourage you to take part in social programme events.

If you’d like a combination of group classes and some one-to-one lessons, you can add extra one-to-one classes to most of our morning group classes. Simply tick the box when you book, and we’ll contact you to discuss your needs.

Cool places that are small enough to be friendly, big enough to be fun

We offer year-round English language courses in three English locations. All our schools are classic, historical buildings with up-to-date, modern language learning facilities, and a warm and friendly welcome.
