Our combined one-to-one plus Business English courses in Brighton

ELC has been working with international business people for over 50 years.

Classes take place in our dedicated Business Centre where the fully-equipped training rooms boast interactive whiteboards. Our specialist trainers are highly experienced and well-qualified with a proven track record of success working with business people of all types and at all levels.

The focus is on general business communication skills, for example taking part in meetings, giving presentations, and telephoning. Business trainers use presentations, case studies, workshops and role-play simulations. Some sessions may be recorded for detailed analysis and feedback. Participants have free access to our self-study centre outside their lesson times.

30-lesson option:

Take 30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week which is made up of 20 lessons (15 hours) per week of one-to-one lessons in the mornings, and 10 lessons (7.5 hours) per week of small-group Business English in the afternoons.

40-lesson option:

Increase the intensity with a 40-lesson (30-hour) course with *20 lessons (15 hours) per week of one-to-one lessons in the mornings, with 20 lessons** (15 hours) per week of small-group Business English.

Please note that there is a maximum of 6 people per group in the afternoons.

Course content

The course is based on a detailed needs analysis that begins prior to arrival and is reviewed continuously throughout the two weeks. The content is therefore flexible, but a typical course will include:

  • discussion skills and participating in meetings
  • giving presentations
  • telephoning and emailing
  • intercultural awareness.

We also provide specialised training in areas such as:

  • marketing and sales
  • secretarial English
  • military English
  • banking and finance
  • computing
  • travel and tourism
  • aviation
  • medicine, pharmacy and law.

Minimum class size

The minimum number required for a combined one-to-one plus Business English course is two participants. In the event that we receive fewer than two professionals taking part, please be assured that we will not cancel your booking. Instead, we will give you an additional 5 or 10 one-to-one lessons in the afternoons.

Our course is perfect for experienced business people who are seeking to improve their overall Business English level, while focusing on specific, personal developmental needs via private, one-to-one tuition that may help them in the workplace.

Course entry levels range from A2 to C1+ on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) scale.

We offer an English level test which anyone can take. It involves 50 questions and, depending on your level, will probably take you from 10 to 20 minutes. At the end of it, we will tell you your probable level.

But when you book, we will ask you to take a more detailed and accurate test, to make sure that you start in the class which is best for you.
