ELC Policies and Procedures
Book your English course with Confidence
ELC Brighton, English in Chester and ELC Eastbourne want to give you peace of mind when booking a course with us in these difficult times. We want to provide you with as much flexibility as possible. Although our standard T&C normally apply we are revising them as follows only for covid-related situations. If you have booked via an agent, please ask your agent for their cancellation policy.
Deferral and Cancellation Policies for students
Our normal notice periods and penalties for cancelling or postponing a booking apply except in the following cases where we will accept notice within 24 hours of arrival without penalty:
- you test positive for covid and cannot travel on the scheduled date
- you are prevented from travelling because of government restrictions
1. Deferrals
If you have booked a future course with us, you will be able to defer your course & accommodation until a later date in 2022 or 2023 with no penalty. There will be no difference in price in tuition and accommodation.
2. Cancellation for a future booking that has already been made and prospective students not yet booked
We encourage those of you who have booked future courses to defer rather than cancel. If you do wish to cancel because of one of the 2 COVID-19 scenarios listed above, the following cancellation terms will apply.
Tuition: there are no cancellation fees on tuition for any cancellations made before arrival in all of our schools. The only charges will be if we have incurred costs we cannot get back (for example, insurance, courier charges).
Homestay accommodation: there are no cancellation fees if you let us know at least 7 days before arrival. If you tell us less than 7 days before arrival, we will charge you for 50% of 1 week of accommodation.
Residential accommodation: there are no cancellation fees if you let us know at least 7 days before arrival. If you tell us less than 7 days before arrival, we will charge you for 1 week of residential accommodation.
3. Students who have already started a course
In the case that test positive for covid and have to self-isolate, or in the unlikely event of a government shutdown, your course will be moved online and you will be able to stay in your accommodation.
Tuition: In the case of government shutdown and you do not wish to continue your course online, you will be given a credit note for any complete unused weeks valid for 2 years from the last day of studying with us. The credit note will be for the equivalent course at the same location (eg credit of 8 weeks of GE25). There are no refunds or credits should you shorten your programme, or reduce the number of lessons. If the original course is no longer available, you will be able to book a new course to the same value as the remaining weeks of your original booking.
Accommodation: you will get a refund of unused weeks of accommodation after the necessary 7 days’ notice has been taken into account.
If you have any questions or are concerned about your English course at ELC/EIC, please get in touch via email or over the phone.
