English in Chester has been running English language courses for students aged 50 and over for more than 30 years.

The heritage city of Chester is a perfect base for mature students on our 50+ Courses. It has a unique charm that our 50+ students really enjoy. The buildings, history, traditions and position on the River Dee make Chester a leading tourist centre attracting many international visitors.

English in Chester is just a 5-minute walk to the historic centre of the city. Chester is a safe city, easy to walk around. There are a number of hotels within about a 10-15 minute walk of the school.

Typical 50+ course content at English in Chester

The 50+ Course enables you to practise your English, explore the region, meet new people and make new friends. The course includes language development and an inclusive social programme. Our aim is to help you enjoy learning and using English. We also help you to discover our beautiful region.

50+ students outside English in Chester

In the mornings, for 20 lessons (15 hours) per week, you will study English in a multi-national 50+ class at your level. In the afternoons and weekends you will join the dedicated 50+ social programme.

Our 50+ courses aim to:

  • help you improve your understanding of spoken English
