Our IELTS exam preparation course offers you several different ways to prepare for the IELTS exam, here at our beautiful English language school in Brighton, UK. ELC Brighton is the largest school in the ELC group, and we’re situated a short walking distance from the beach in the west part of the city.
IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It is said to be the world’s most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration. There are four parts to the IELTS exam, reading, writing, listening and speaking.
IELTS Academic is the most frequently taken form of the exam. You can opt for the normal IELTS Academic or IELTS for UKVI (Academic). Both forms of exam are identical in terms of terms of format, content, scoring and difficulty. The only difference is that the UKVI option (UK Visa and Immigration) is approved by the UK Home Office for work, study and migration purposes.

The IELTS exam preparation course at ELC Brighton is designed to give you complete and careful preparation for all aspects of the academic module of IELTS.
* Minimum age: please see more information regarding levels of care and supervision for 16 and 17 year olds in international classes. We occasionally accept 15 year olds in international classes provided they are part of a group with a group leader.
Our 4-week intensive IELTS exam preparation course in Brighton runs from Monday to Friday, mornings and afternoons. Choose from our 25 or 30 lessons per week options.

Our IELTS exam preparation courses are planned so that the Academic IELTS exam takes place on Saturday, the day after your course finishes. Please contact us for the exact exam dates.
The test centre for ‘standard’ academic IELTS is usually in Brighton (subject to availability) but may be Eastbourne or London. The nearest test centre for SELT IELTS is London or Portsmouth.
London Gatwick airport is the nearest airport to Brighton, then London Heathrow airport. From Gatwick there are direct trains to Brighton (about 35 minutes) and direct coaches (about 55 minutes). From Heathrow there are direct coaches (about 2 hours 15 minutes). Alternatively we can arrange taxi transfers. These take about 35 minutes from Gatwick to your accommodation and 75-90 minutes from Heathrow.
Our exam preparation courses are full time intensive courses in dedicated classes focussing on IELTS or Cambridge First, Advanced or Proficiency. You study for your chosen exam in the morning and afternoon. The courses have fixed dates that finish with the possibility to take your chosen exam. There is always a 'mock' exam under exam conditions before the real exam so you can get an idea of what the exam will be like and get feedback on what you need to improve.
All students learn in different ways and at different paces, so we are not able to give you a specific answer. Sometimes students expect that they will improve much faster than it is possible. On average it takes around 12 weeks for you to move up to the next level.

We offer an English level test which anyone can take. It involves 50 questions and, depending on your level, will probably take you from 10 to 20 minutes. At the end of it, we will tell you your probable level.
But when you book, we will ask you to take a more detailed and accurate test, to make sure that you start in the class which is best for you.
