The IELTS exam preparation course at ELC Brighton is designed to give you complete and careful preparation for all aspects of the academic module of IELTS.

Our 4-week intensive IELTS exam preparation course in Brighton runs from Monday to Friday, mornings and afternoons. Choose from our 25 or 30 lessons per week options.

Course intensity options

This is an intensive course which lasts 4 weeks. You can choose to study:

  • 25 lessons (18.75 hours) or
  • 30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week

If you opt for 25 lessons per week, all of your lessons will be specifically to prepare you for your IELTS test. If you choose 30 lessons per week, you’ll also have 25 lessons of IELTS preparation, with an additional 5 lessons per week to focus on other topics, which could be

  • speaking, pronunciation and listening
  • reading, writing and vocabulary, or
  • English for work (for intermediate to advanced levels only).

What’s the closest airport to ELC in Brighton?

London Gatwick airport is the nearest airport to Brighton, then London Heathrow airport. From Gatwick there are direct trains to Brighton (about 35 minutes) and direct coaches (about 55 minutes). From Heathrow there are direct coaches (about 2 hours 15 minutes). Alternatively we can arrange taxi transfers. These take about 35 minutes from Gatwick to your accommodation and 75-90 minutes from Heathrow.

How are exam courses structured at ELC Brighton?

Our exam preparation courses are full time intensive courses in dedicated classes focussing on IELTS or Cambridge First, Advanced or Proficiency. You study for your chosen exam in the morning and afternoon. The courses have fixed dates that finish with the possibility to take your chosen exam. There is always a 'mock' exam under exam conditions before the real exam so you can get an idea of what the exam will be like and get feedback on what you need to improve.

How long will it take me to move up a level?

All students learn in different ways and at different paces, so we are not able to give you a specific answer. Sometimes students expect that they will improve much faster than it is possible. On average it takes around 12 weeks for you to move up to the next level.

How much is a taxi from the airport to Brighton?

We can organise a taxi for you and the price is £100 each way for Gatwick and £170 each way for Heathrow.

We offer an English level test which anyone can take. It involves 50 questions and, depending on your level, will probably take you from 10 to 20 minutes. At the end of it, we will tell you your probable level.

But when you book, we will ask you to take a more detailed and accurate test, to make sure that you start in the class which is best for you.
