English Examination Courses

Cambridge English Examination preparation courses at ELC are designed to improve your overall language ability in addition to developing the English language skills you need to pass your chosen Cambridge English exam (B2 First FCE or C1 Advanced CAE). The CAE course provides complete and careful preparation for all aspects of the Cambridge Advanced examination.

The CAE exam preparation course includes:

  • practice interviews with experienced Cambridge examiners
  • mock examinations under authentic exam conditions
  • regular tutorials with your teacher to give individual help and study advice
ELC Eastbourne exam class

We offer:

  • long 10-12 week intensive courses leading to the exams in March, June and December - 25 or 30 lessons (18.75 or 22.5 hours) per week
  • short 4-week more intensive courses in summer leading to the exams in July and August - 30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week

Our minimum age for individuals is 16, but we occasionally accept 15 year olds on the General English course in international classes provided they are part of a group with a group leader.

If you are planning to study for 24 weeks or more, the Cambridge Course can be taken as part of our Study Year Programme.

The exams are normally held in Eastbourne or Brighton. NB in some cases the wrritten exam is on the Saturday immediately after the course. The oral exam is usually on a Saturday or Sunday during the course. Please contact us for details.

    C2 Upper-advanced - use English very well in demanding situations
    - performance level may be above average native speaker
    C1 Advanced - use English well in all but the most demanding situations
    - use and understand complex language
    B2 Upper-intermediate - use English effectively in all familiar situations
