As ELC is itself a charity, we jumped at the chance to get everyone in the school involved in raising some money for Comic Relief, a British charity funded in 1985 in response to famine in Ethiopia. The charity states that its aim is to "bring about positive and lasting change in the lives of poor and disadvantaged people, which we believe requires investing in work that addresses people's immediate needs as well as tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice" - Wikipedia
Red Nose Day is the annual event where people from all over the UK do something to raise money. They gain sponsorship by doing something unusual and the money is used in different ways each year. Comic Relief's tagline is "funny for money" and this year lots of students and staffed were keen to show their support and make their faces funny for money! click here to see our album on facebook!
We raised a total of £170 for the charity - which could buy a wheelchair for a child in Zambia to help them to get to school.
