An important part of the learning English experience at ESOE is our social programme as it gives our students the opportunity to make friends, practise the English they have learnt in class and explore Eastbourne and England. Many of our social activities involve visiting beautiful and historic destinations such as Beachy Head, Cambridge and London. Students can also take part in exhilarating activities such as kayaking or paintballing. But sometimes it is nice to just relax and practise English conversation with fellow students.
Conversation Club at Eastbourne School of English remains popular because it allows our students to communicate in an informal setting and discuss interesting issues. Different nationalities can engage in a structured debate or enjoy socialising over a refreshing beverage. It is also a brilliant chance for students to further practise their speaking and listening and to improve their English.
Yesterday our social organiser led students in discussion on beauty and physical attractiveness; they discussed what made someone attractive to them, whether it was because of how they looked physically or their personality. Also students exchanged thoughts on what was considered attractive in their particular home countries. Students were able to discuss the topic in a relaxed, friendly and fun atmosphere and get useful feedback.
