You are required to have a suitable insurance policy throughout your stay at ELC. This is for your own personal protection and safety. The insurance policy should as a minimum provide cover for cancellation, course fees, medical expenses and emergency medical assistance.
You can take out your own insurance or you can choose to be insured under the ELC Studentguard+ Travel Insurance arranged by One Broker (GDIS Ltd) which has been specially designed for overseas students studying in the UK.
The policy costs £5.50 per 7-day period or part-period (eg 7 days' cover costs £5.50, 8 days costs £11.00, 14 days costs £16.50. For 1 week - arrival Sunday, departure Sunday counts as 1 week; arrival Saturday, departure Sunday counts as 2 weeks).
The policy covers:
- cancellation and curtailment
- course fees up to £7500
- accommodation costs, transfers and flights up to £7500
- medical expenses
- personal belongings
- personal injury
- personal liability
- overseas legal advice

IMPORTANT – If you want to be insured under the ELC Studentguard+ policy you must tell us and pay at the point of booking your trip. You will then be insured if you have to cancel pre-departure. if you then cancel your booking, the insurance paid is non-refundable.
As with all insurance policies there are some situations that will not be covered. These are detailed in the studentguard+ summary of cover and policy wording. It will cover some COVID-19 related costs like medical expenses but not others so you should arrange insurance yourself before leaving your country. There is no charge for NHS testing or treatment of COVID-19 while visiting the UK.
