ELC schools

  • ELC Brighton
  • English in Chester
  • ELC Eastbourne

The ELC group of schools is the top-ranked grouping of schools in the UK*. ELC Brighton is the joint No1 language school in the UK with 15/15 areas of strength. English in Chester, with 14/15 strengths, and ELC Eastbourne, with 13/15 strengths, are in the Top 5%.

Although all 3 schools are part of the same organisation, and are all committed to high quality teaching with excellent customer care. each of the 3 schools very much has its own unique character. Every year we teach around 5000 students from more than 70 different countries.

We offer English language courses all year round for adults and young adults aged 16+ at all 3 centres. Our English courses and teaching provide effective training for students who need English for work, study, travel or personal pleasure. In Chester we offer a Summer Course for Teenagers (age 13-16) and all 3 schools can offer closed group courses for students aged 13+ outside summer.

We have been teaching English for more than 80 years - since 1936 in Eastbourne, 1962 in Brighton and 1976 in Chester. In November 2010 the charities that ran The English Language Centre in Brighton and Eastbourne School of English merged to form one not-for-profit organisation. In September 2019, ELC then acquired English in Chester.

We understand that everyone is unique with different needs and different goals. We will provide you with individual attention to help you achieve your goals.

We look forward to welcoming you to ELC at one of our schools in Brighton, Chester and Eastbourne.
