Welcome to sunny Eastbourne

Eastbourne is a lovely, relaxed and easy-going seaside town along the coast from Brighton. The beach and the stunning coastal landscape which surrounds the town lend themselves to a range of fun activities. Eastbourne is officially the sunniest place in the UK, with 1,892 hours of sunshine annually. This could all be the perfect antidote to a taxing TEFL course or an intensive teacher training programme.

Is a TEFL course or an English teacher development course right for you?

ELC Eastbourne was founded in 1936 and throughout its many years of history it has provided training for language teachers from all over the world. From methodology refresher courses to certified teacher training courses such as DELTA, Cambridge CELTA and TKT, thousands of teachers have successfully passed through its doors.

Our teacher training offering in Eastbourne talks to two different audiences, with some overlap:

  • Newcomers to English language teaching (ELT), aged 18 and above, who want to begin to teach English to others. That could be based here in the UK, as an ESOL teacher (English to speakers of other languages), or going overseas to do what is typically called TEFL - teaching English to speakers of other languages. If you have no previous experience of teaching English, then the CELTA is a brilliant springboard towards making your dream a reality.
  • Established teachers, where you may have been teaching for a few years or a few decades, and you’re ready to improve your skills, whether that’s around your use of technology in the classroom, teaching other subjects in English (where English is not your first language), classroom management, primary school English, English culture, or something else. In Eastbourne we provide custom training, where you are already one of a group of teachers, and we put together a package of options just for you.
