What is the highest level class?
We usually have general English classes at C1 level. We also run a Cambridge Advanced course 5 times a year.

The International English Language Testing System, often shortened to the acronym IELTS, is an English language test typically used for work, study or migration. The qualification is popular worldwide, and the exam is taken by around 3 million people each year. IELTS is accepted by thousands of organisations, companies, schools, universities and border/immigration departments around the globe.
There are four parts to the IELTS exam: reading, writing, listening and speaking. An IELTS exam preparation course will ensure you are in the best possible position to take the exam with confidence.
IELTS is an internationally-recognised exam and most students need it to prove their level of English for study at University, or for use in a workplace environment.

Our IELTS preparation course starts any Monday and is a combination of General English, Exam Focus and Academic Writing lessons. The course will prepare you for undergraduate or postgraduate studies which are taught in English.
You will learn to use English with confidence, both in your academic studies and socially. Our experienced and professional teachers will develop your exam techniques so that you achieve the best possible result in each section of the exam.
The IELTS course includes:
Your rate of progress varies depending on your level, ability and determination but on average our IELTS students’ test scores increase by 0.5 in approximately 6.5 weeks. We will provide you with regular examination practice and homework. We also offer information and advice to help you choose and apply for your university course.
Exam dates are available every month at a local test centre.
If you are planning to study for 24 weeks or more, IELTS preparation can be taken as part of our Study Year Programme.
ELC Chester’s IELTS exam preparation course is perfect if you are an international student aged 16 or over, and are looking to further improve your English language skills while preparing for the IELTS exam. You must also have an existing CEFR level of B1 to C1.

Yes you can, however, this is only recommended for experienced travellers as you will then have to take the Underground to central London and then a direct train to Chester (CTR).
Manchester Airport and Liverpool Airport are the closest to Chester, at 45 and 35 minutes’ drive respectively. We can organise an airport transfer for you from these airports to your accommodation in Chester. Or alternatively you can use public transport. Some students also choose to travel to Heathrow Airport in London. This is only recommended for experienced travellers as you will then have to take the Underground to central London and then a direct train to Chester (CTR).
To study English language, you can study for a maximum of 11 months. You need to apply for a Short-Term Study Visa

We offer an English level test which anyone can take. It involves 50 questions and, depending on your level, will probably take you from 10 to 20 minutes. At the end of it, we will tell you your probable level.
But when you book, we will ask you to take a more detailed and accurate test, to make sure that you start in the class which is best for you.
