Our English course for personal assistants and secretaries consists of 30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week for two weeks, with a maximum class size of 8 students.

Each course is designed by the trainer to meet the needs of its participants and is therefore a unique package, targeted to improve business performance in English. There is a focus on written and spoken communication skills such as making arrangements, planning and organising business events and handling digital correspondence.

Trainers use presentations, case studies, workshops and role-play simulations and some sessions may be recorded for detailed analysis and feedback. Participants have free access to our self-study centre outside their lesson times.

By the end of the course you will be able to use English more confidently in your daily work and communicate more effectively in the business areas that were focussed on. The course is based on a detailed Needs Analysis that begins prior to arrival and is reviewed continuously throughout the two weeks. The content is therefore flexible, but a typical course will include:

  • business letter writing
  • organising and preparing for meetings
  • memos and reports
  • making arrangements and preparing schedules
  • greeting visitors
  • telephoning and emailing.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • communicate in English more effectively and confidently overall
  • correspond effectively in emails and other written correspondence.
  • communicate effectively on the telephone in English
  • write memos and reports accurately using appropriate style and register
  • make arrangements (e.g. for meetings and conferences) in English.

Minimum class size

The minimum number required for this English for PAs and Secretaries course is two students. In the event that we receive fewer than two students, please be assured that we will not cancel your booking. Instead, we will give you the alternative course of General English Plus One-to-One. This consists of 30 lessons per week, made up of 20 General English lessons, in a class of up to 12 students, and 10 one-to-one lessons of specialised tuition.

We offer an English level test which anyone can take. It involves 50 questions and, depending on your level, will probably take you from 10 to 20 minutes. At the end of it, we will tell you your probable level.
