General English Courses
The General English Course at ELC Eastbourne is designed to give you the confidence to communicate effectively in real-life situations.
The course provides effective English language training for people who need English for work, further study,travel/tourism or for your own pleasure. In addition, it can help provide preparation for a number of exams including IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, KET and PET.
There is a balanced programme, focusing on the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, whilst covering essential grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, idioms and colloquial language.
You can choose 25 or 30 lessons of General English per week (18.75 or 22.5 hours).
In addition to a core morning programme of 20 lessons, we offer different possibilities to help you to:
- focus more specifically on your goals with 1 or 2 afternoon electives per week
- combine English language study with developing a practical skill
- focus specifically on your language learning needs with 5 or 10 one-to-one lessons per week

Our minimum age for individuals is 16, but we occasionally accept 15 year olds on the General English course in international classes provided they are part of a group with a group leader.
