Last week our Social Organiser and some of our students tried out a new type of fitness training, called “CrossFit”. CrossFit is type of strength and conditioning programme which focuses on mixing Olympic weight-lifting, body-weight exercises and aerobic exercise. It is very intensive and pushes participants to work as hard as they can.
Recently a new crossfit gym opened up in Eastbourne called Beach Bourne CrossFit, and to give everyone a chance to experience their classes, they offered completely free introductory classes throughout January.
All the students that tried out the class seemed to enjoy it very much and were pleased with the high intensity. Mike, our social organiser, also commented on how much he was aching the day after as a result of the workout! Many of the students have since been back and are keen to improve their fitness over the year with the help of CrossFit.
If you are interested in joining Beach 'Bourne have special student rates:
- £55 per month (12 month contract)
- £60 per month (6 month contract)
- £65 per month (no contract)
- £70 for 10 classes
- £10 per class (non members)
"CrossFit's mission is to fuel a revolution in fitness based on the pursuit of function, not form -- on measurements of performance, not anatomy. We want rings and bumper plates in our gyms, not machines. We believe that where you train is less important than how you train and whom you train with matters more than what gear you have. We know this can be done anywhere. We've proven that the backyard, to the garage, to the warehouse is as good an environment as any for Forging Elite Athletes" - (CrossFit Inc. (2013). Affiliation.
