Our student Sanad Hemme, has this to say about his experience here as a student:
"I can't believe that it's my last day in Brighton, especially at The English Language Centre (ELC Brighton)! I had a bad impression about how British people deal with Arabic people before I came to the UK and it's completely not true. I found the people who work there to be like my family and I want to explain to my friends in my country how staff at ELC took care of me and every nationality. For example, in the morning when I came to school I couldn’t go to class without winking at Jenna, she works out our activities for the week - special football matches and volleyball etc. Jenna is a wonderful person, everybody loves her.
On the other hand, there are a lot of teachers in the school who taught me and all of them are very nice and helpful but I will never forget every moment with three special teachers I studied with. The first one is Jess. She taught me when I was at elementary level and she is an amazing teacher. Every morning when I woke up I couldn't wait to go to her class and we did a lot of things in class: parties and games... and I remember a song we had to sing in class it goes, “Honey honey sugar sugar”, that was fun! The only bad thing about my teacher Jess is that when she said, ‘Your level now is pre-intermediate so you must leave the class’, the first thing that came into my mind was ‘I won’t find a class like Jess’ again’, but she said ‘Your new teacher is very nice and you will like her’.
When I came to TINA’s class, I was very shy because I didn't know her very well, but she is very nice and perfect. I told her I had a problem to remember vocabulary and she told me that at the end of the week we do games to help you to remember vocabulary. I won’t forget how well she teaches because the time went very quickly with her, it didn't feel like three hours with Tina but the bad news came again, very quickly, like what happened with Jess! When I came in in the morning she said “Sanad, you aren't in my class anymore, your level now is intermediate, go to Peter and check your class and your new teacher”.
Who is Peter!? Well, he's the first person I met in the English language school on my first day and I haven’t found anyone who is as helpful as Peter. When I ask him for anything, his answer is always "yes I will do that, don't worry just study”. Peter’s right hand woman, Janice, is the mother of the school, I have never ever met a woman like Janice, she's like my mother, and she always does the best for me. I felt bored when she went to the English Language Center in Portslade over the summer, but she came back to stay with us at the English Language Center and I remember the day when Peter told me that she has worked at ELC for five years and they gave her a present.
Finally I want to talk about the last teacher who taught me, it's a great story. She works at the school and she didn't teach me but I saw her everywhere. She always smiles and asks how I am and when I finished every course in the school, I decided to study in her class and at first she was laughing! I remember she said, “Finally, Sanad, you're in my class!” and she started to tell students in class about our story of 9 months at ELC and Brighton. She's my lovely teacher, Emma.
Finally, I want to say there are some people who make the world SPECIAL just by being in it, I mean all staff in THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE CENTRE IN BRIGHTON, thank you for every amazing and unbelievable moment with you, I will tell all my friends and family about how you're so nice before I tell my friends about Brighton and in my opinion I think ELC makes Brighton more beautiful."
Thank you for your lovely words Sanad, we wish you the very best in your future career as a pilot and hope you pay us a visit one day!
