Ali Salvatore is on a 1-year internship with us as Digital Marketing Officer as part of his degree course in international Business at the University of Sussex. He joined us and talks about his experience so far.
It has now been a month since I started my job as Digital Marketing officer for The English Language Centre and Eastbourne School of English. Before this, I had no experience in an English language school. Now, however, I believe I know why so many people from all over the world come here to learn English and experience English culture.
By sitting in on various types of lessons I have seen why students enjoy studying so much. Lessons are engaging and teachers show a real enthusiasm and passion to teach. Even experienced overseas teachers who I have spoken to enthuse about the course and how they have learnt new techniques which they cannot wait to implement back home.
The other side to the experience is the social programmes and excursions that students look forward to. I have been lucky enough to experience many of the social activities first hand, from paintballing to visiting Beachy Head. Many of the places we have visited have been new to me and it has been a great experience. The variety of activities and excursions planned is brilliant and offers something for everyone. There are chances to keep active with a range of sports, visit iconic beauty spots or just relax and practise speaking at weekly conversation club.
Overall, there are many elements that combine to provide students with such a good experience. Firstly, the quality of teaching is consistently top notch. As well as this, a student is able to experience English culture in beautiful cities and being able to travel many iconic cities, with London being high on most people lists! The thing I have found most appealing, however, is the atmosphere within both schools. Students are motivated to learn and staff always do there upmost to help and ensure students are happy with all aspects of their stay in the country. The friendships I have seen being built between students themselves and with staff is brilliant to see and a testament to the friendly and welcome atmosphere of both schools!
