ELC Policies and Procedures

Book your English course with confidence

ELC Brighton, English in Chester and ELC Eastbourne want to give you peace of mind when booking a course with us in these difficult times. We want to provide you with as much flexibility as possible. For all of our students, we are revising our policies as follows:

Deferral and Cancellation Policies for students

The following deferral and cancellation policies apply for future courses until further notice.

1. Deferrals

If you have booked a future course with us, you will be able to defer your course & accommodation until a later date in 2020 or 2021 with no penalty. There will be no difference in price in tuition and accommodation.

2. Cancellation for a future booking that has already been made

We encourage those of you who have booked future courses to defer rather than cancel.  If you do wish to cancel because of the current COVID-19 situation, the following cancellation terms will apply.

Tuition: there are no cancellation fees on tuition for any cancellations made before arrival in all of our schools. The only charges will be if we have incurred costs we cannot get back (for example, insurance, courier charges).

Homestay accommodation: there are no cancellation fees if you let us know at least 7 days before arrival. If you tell us less than 7 days before arrival, we will charge you for 50% of 1 week of accommodation.

Residential accommodation: there are no cancellation fees if you let us know at least 7 days before arrival. If you tell us less than 7 days before arrival, we will charge you for 1 week of residential accommodation.

3. Prospective students not yet booked

Tuition: there are no cancellation fees on tuition for any cancellations made up before arrival in all of our schools.

4. Students who have already started a course

Tuition: Students whose courses were interrupted by the coronavirus issues can postpone the remainder of their course, continue to study online or a combination of these two. Students will be given a credit note for any complete unused weeks to be used by the end of 2021. The credit note will be for the equivalent course at the same location (eg credit of 8 weeks of GE25). There are no refunds or credits should a student shorten a programme, or reduce the number of lessons. If the original course is no longer available, students will be able to book a new course to the same value as their current course.

Accommodation: students can choose to get a refund of unused weeks of accommodation or a credit note for the monetary value of any unused accommodation, after the necessary 7 days’ notice has been taken into account.

If you have any questions or are concerned about your English course at ELC/EIC, please get in touch via email or over the phone.

As of 23 March the schools are temporarily closed. ELC/EIC will continue to support students still in the UK in all aspects of their course, accommodation and welfare. You will be fully supported by our teachers to continue your studies remotely while you are in the UK. This will be achieved through a range of complementary delivery methods. These include use of online technology for learning; enhanced use of e-Chester/ELC online (our own online learning platforms); course work and homework.

All accommodation remains open as usual and there is no change to the welfare support available to students.

If you have any questions or are concerned about your English course at ELC/EIC, please get in touch via email or over the phone.
