Quality Assurance

Our membership of these organisations is your guarantee of quality:

English UK is the world’s leading language teaching association with more than 400 members – all accredited by the British Council – including private language schools, educational trusts and charities and language centres in further education colleges and universities.

The English Language Centre, Brighton and The English Language Centre, Eastbourne are seprately accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English as a foreign language. To obtain accreditation, the schools must be inspected regularly and meet very strict criteria.

The British Council last inspected and accredited ELC Brighton in June 2015. ELC Brighton achieved 12 out of a possible 15 overall areas of strength compared with the average for BC accredited schools of 3.6. This makes ELC the top ranked school in Brighton and in the top 4% of language schools in the UK. You can read the full 2015 British Council report here

The British Council last inspected and accredited ELC Eastbourne (as Eastbourne School of English) in June 2015. ESOE achieved 8 overall areas of strength, well above the average for BC schools of 3.6. You can read the full report here.

Private Further Education

The English Language Centre is accredited by ISI (Independent School's Inspectorate) in order to have the necessary educational oversight to take students under Tier 4 of the Points-Based system. Unlike with British Council inspections which are separate for each school, ISI inspects the whole ELC organisation. ELC was first inspected in May 2012 with monitoring visits in May 2013 and May 2015. In May 2016, there was further full inspection. All of the inspection reports have consistently stated that the schools 'exceed expectations' in all categories. You can read the full 2016 ISI inspection report here.
